About Phooldei

Phooldei is an attempt to build a platform, together with local artisans, and reach out to the world with natural, handmade, alternate and creative options to spruce up our daily lives.

The artisans who are a part of Phooldei are either independent artisans from remote villages of Uttarakhand or are already a part of some cooperative/society. Most of them have struggled all their lives to maintain financial stability & preserve their traditional craft. As more & more people opt for machine-made substitutes, indigenous crafts receive cheap returns as opposed to what they truly deserve - considering the amount of time, hard work & precision each requires.

Know the craft

Uttarakhand, known as the Land of Gods, is a popular religious or travel destination for many. However, the lesser known fact is the abundance of rich culture, heritage, nature and art & crafts of the state. Over 100+ crafts are still being practiced in various parts of the Uttarakhand, using traditional knowledge that has been passed over generations and promotes slow, ethical & sustainable living.
